We all like hearing and reading about the success stories of famous individuals or companies, don't we?
Here, I will tell you the story of Shopify with the help of a timeline.
Today, it may be one of the best in its field but like almost everything, Shopify too made a small start in June 2006.
2006
Founded by Tobias Lütke, Daniel Weinand, and Scott Lake.
These guys were originally attempting to open Snowdevil, an online snowboarding equipment store. Left frustrated with the services of existing e-commerce products, Lütke, a computer programmer built his own based on Ruby on Rails. In June 2006, Shopify was launched by the group.

2010
Launched a free mobile app on the Apple App Store.
The app lets Shopify store owners view and manage their stores from iOS mobile devices.

On April 14, filed for an IPO on the New York Stock Exchange and Toronto Stock Exchange.
Went public on May 21.
In September, Amazon.com announced that it would be closing its Amazon Webstore service for merchants, and had selected Shopify as the preferred migration provider.
2016
On October 3, acquired Boltmade.
In November, partnered with Paystack which allowed Nigerian online retailers to accept payments from customers around the world.
